  • Clarinet
    • Nina and Ray'Niece
      • No instrument (still attempting to attain a CCS Instrument)
  • Flute
    • Has established consistent sound on Head joint and fully assembled instrument
    • Has established correct hand position
    • Has been introduced to Bb fingering. (Does not yet own a book)

  • Trumpets and Trombone (Haleigh No achievements shown due to absence)
    • Did not bring instrument today (two weeks in a row) Progress is at a stand still

  • Alto Saxophones
    • Assessed performance targets for Line 17.
      • Areas for improvement are
        • establishing steady pulse and sustaining for correct rhythmic value
        • establishing muscle memory from G to B

  • Percussion - (Paige no instrument today)
    • Assessed performance targets for Line 17 (still developing; no improvement)
    • Established correct grip and single bounce stroke on drum stick
    • Started Haskell-Harr lesson 6

All Students
  • Clapping quarter, half and whole note rhythms from Supplemental Materials: lines 1-8 (includes the quarter rest)


What to do
  • Percussion and Sax need to achieve mastery of performance targets on lines 17 and 23
  • Brass: Still working on beginning concepts of sound and reading. They are well behind schedule
  • Flute: Continue making sound through the tone hole; next lesson we need to begin coordinating fingers on instrument
  • Clarinets: Work on rhythm page

Next lesson goals
  • Establish your learning targets and track them on your practice record
  • Students should begin meeting mastery of performance targets for lines 22, 23 and 29
    • Some students are still working on line 7 while most are at lines 12 and 14.
